We’ve organized another Independence From Oil Day bicycle ride to promote the environmental benefits of bike riding! As we know, we can’t be completely independent from oil products, but encouraging different mothods of transportation (ie bicycling) is a fantastic way to be LESS dependent!
SUNDAY, AUGUST 15th @ 8:00 AM
This one, however, will be much larger, a true Tampa Bay area event, featuring simultaneous rides starting from …Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa, USF’s Tampa campus, Coachman Park in Clearwater, and the Pier in St. Petersburg.
Come join me (USF Tampa campus) or one of the other rides to promote bicycling in Tampa Bay!
***We’re leaving from the front of the USF Botanical Gardens on USF Pine Drive. Please try to arrive around 7:45 AM so we can leave promptly by 8:00 AM on Sunday.
***PLEASE WEAR A HELMET! If you don’t have a helmet, let me know and I will find one for you. Protect your skulls, my friends.
It will be a fun, slow-paced ride to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and back. A round trip of about 21 miles.
Here’s the route I plan on taking, but I’m open to suggestions if you have any ideas for a better route.
Again, we’ll be leaving from USF by 8:00 AM, so shoot me an email or text/call if you wan to join!

I have always prefered bikes over vehicles, because it’s nature friendly and safe plus it’s a good exercise. Look at the people in Japan, China and Korea..
I think it is a great idea to be like them, more bikes on the road less accidents..
